Feeling fear, worry, anxiety - it's a big part of the human experience. It arises as a reaction to anticipated danger and is therefore a survival instinct. Good to have, simply put!




The problem with anxiety arises when the reactions are exaggerated, don't match the reality of the threat, occur very often, and start to affect our functioning.




An anxiety disorder is usually diagnosed when a person can't function well enough in their daily life due to the frequency and severity of anxiety symptoms.



Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the method that has proven very effective in treating anxiety symptoms. Here are brief descriptions of two interventions that may be used in treatment for anxiety:
